Felderland PYO Farm FAQ
WHEN IS THE PYO SEASON?
The official opening date will be announced on our social media from when the first
strawberries are ready (usually late May) until the end of October.
WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING TIMES?
Tuesday – Sunday 10 am – 4.30 pm (last entry 4 pm)
WHICH FRUITS ARE AVAILABLE TO PICK?
May: strawberries
June: strawberries, raspberries
July: strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, plums
August: strawberries, raspberries, plums, blackberries, apples, sweetcorn, sunflowers.
September: strawberries, raspberries, apples, blackberries, sweetcorn, sunflowers
October: pumpkins, squash, apples
NOTE: season and weather dependant. Please visit our social media for daily updates.
Sometimes the farm can get very busy, and crops such as strawberries may be temporarily
‘picked out’. Generally, they will only need a few days to ripen up before there will be
enough to pick again! We will also offer pre-picked fruit from our sister farms at points
throughout the season.
DO WE NEED TO BOOK?
There is no need to book in the summer, but we kindly ask you to notify us of significant
group/coach party visits. Picking in pumpkin season is a ticket only, as the field can get very
busy! However, we also run events throughout the season that do require booking.
DO YOU HAVE A CAR PARK?
On arrival, please take an immediate right turn (past the farm shop) and park in the car park
behind it, which is also suitable for minibuses and coaches*. Car parking is FREE (*our team
will be on hand to guide you)
DO YOU ACCEPT CARD PAYMENTS?
We accept card and cash payments at the entrance and coffee shop.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
Yes, dogs are welcome! But they must ALWAYS be kept on leads, and any mess must be
cleaned immediately. We reserve the right to ask owners of any particularly troublesome
dogs to remove them from the farm. Please remember that the farm can get very busy with
visitors, tractors, and food outlets.
ARE THERE TOILETS ONSITE?
Porta-loos and hand washing points are available, with baby changing facilities and a
disabled-accessible toilet.
DO YOU SERVE REFRESHMENTS?
We have an onsite coffee shop with picnic benches next to our farm-themed play area, which
sells takeaway hot and cold drinks and cold snacks such as ice cream, biscuits, and cakes.
Occasionally, we host local hot food stalls – please check our social media for updates!
WHAT ARE THE PYO PRICES?
We've introduced the Flat Rate Pricing policy to cut down on weighing and waiting times.
This means no weighing or counting on the way out! Instead, you can purchase a punnet (or
two!) at our farm shop before entering our fields.
GROUP VISITS
Group bookings/coach parties are welcome! Please kindly notify us beforehand.
We also offer educational SCHOOL TRIPS with Farmer Matt!
WHEELCHAIR / PUSHCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY
All our fruit is separated into rows with more than enough space for wheelchairs and
pushchairs. Please be aware that the ground around the farm can be rough in places,
although we do everything possible to make it as flat as possible. Help is on hand at any
point. Please don’t hesitate to ask one of the PYO team members dotted around the farm for
help or advice!
CAN WE BRING OUR CONTAINERS?
Unfortunately, you cannot use your containers due to the introduction of our Flat Rate
Pricing policy and our fruit being priced on punnet size rather than weight. However, you can
bring previous Felderland PYO Farm containers back on a later visit, providing the pre-purchased
fruit matches the container you are returning with.
IS THERE AN ENTRANCE FEE?
Entrance and parking to our site are free. However, charges apply for seasonal events
(Pumpkin Patch in October). Coaches are welcome. Please get in touch with us to let us know
you're coming. We have a hard-standing car park and an overflow car park; please know this
is a grass area.
FIRST AID
There are always trained first aiders available. If help is required, please ask the nearest
member of staff, coffee shop or entrance.
Please immediately report any accidents or injuries to a Felderland PYO Farm staff member.
CAN WE BRING PICNICS OR BARBECUES?
Due to Health and Safety guidelines, BBQs are not permitted on-site. However, picnics are
most welcome, and picnic tables are provided next to the play area and coffee shop.
PUMPKIN SEASON
This is a ticketed event due to how popular we have become! The farm is busy this season,
and tickets sell out fast. So make sure you grab them early to avoid disappointment!
DO WE NEED TO BRING SECATEURS?
No, we cut them beforehand.
IS THE FIELD MUDDY?
Weather can be wrong this time of the year, so we recommend wearing boots and bringing
bags for pumpkins to protect your car.
HOW MUCH ARE THE PUMPKIN AND SQAUSH?
From £1 - £6 each (2022)
CAN YOU EAT THE PUMPKINS AND SQUASH?
Absolutely! Whether you prefer them roasted, mashed or in soups, our tasty pumpkins and
squashes are perfect!
